B/CS prog stoner metal duo The Tron Sack takes the glacial tempos and eardrum shattering intensity of modern stoner metal and pairs it with the synthesizers and ambience of early ’70s progressive rock, pretty much taking the two most bongcentric heavy rock genres and mixing them all together.

Austin’s Tow The Line makes a sing-a-long metal-inspired alt-rock/punk hybrid with superhero drumming, powerful hooks and huge guitars that recall Superchunk and Chavez at the same time.  What would that be?  Power-math alterna-pop punk?  OK!

Dallas punk rockers Dog Parade refers to themselves as “traditional political punk rock”, and I’d say that’s far more accurate a depiction than yours truly could cough up for them. Very British 2nd wave punk rock in tone, early ’80s Southern California in attitude, Dog Company are one of Texas’s better punk rock bands.

In the early ’90s Austin played host to an awesome dirtbag punk band called The Motards. About 15 years ago that band broke up and its members went on to form other awesome Austin punk rock bands like The Open Casket and The Put-Downs. Last year these bands found themselves sharing a practice room and thought, “what the shit, dude, let’s do some reunion shows” but a couple of Motards were not down. So they added two new Tards and have now formed Super Motards, an Austin punk rock supergroup of sorts, who make their B/CS debut at LOUDFEST 4.
